One particularly low day, I was feeling extra invisible and hopeless so I wandered into a spiritual center to attend their Sunday “Celebration” hoping that would pick me up a little. Instead, I found an older man that looked like he had just come from an Ashram in India, all dressed in shades of white. He stared me straight in the eyes for what seemed like an eternity and then said in a rather loud voice, “F&%k those negative thoughts that are beating you up. Those feelings that aren’t true. You are more than that sh*t, so much more! You are perfect just as you are.”
I was shocked and I couldn’t believe he had seen right into me so clearly that it literally took my breath away. But in that moment, I really heard him, and I decided I would figure out how to never let negative thoughts and feelings get me down again. “F&%k those negative thoughts.”
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been insatiably curious about human potential. I wanted to know, what exactly it is that makes people genuinely happy and creatively fulfilled.
I found a rad super-cool therapist, a 12-step program,read everything I could get my hands on and adopted every self-care habit I could find. I studied the Science Of Happiness. I opened up and shared. I listened and learned how to take care of myself and let my light shine.
And, once I figured out how to be happy,
I couldn’t wait to help others like you feel happy too.
I found out that the research proves that happiness is possible through intentional habit changes.
It turns out that:
- only 10% of our happiness is due to our external circumstances and
- a surprising 90% is based on our inner environment.
- This means we can all shift our happiness levels. Whaaaa! Yep!
- A full 40% of our happiness is influenced by our intentional daily activities and the CHOICES we make.
So I became a Certified Mindset Coach and a member of the International Coaches Federation and I’ve been helping clients, like you, create Brighter Better Days ever since.
Here are some of my own daily activities that are currently contributing to my Brighter Better Days:
Morning coffee with my husband Frankie (which makes me especially happy after his snoring kept me up all night… I love you honey!)
Playing ball with Piper and Pippen, our very energetic Australian Blue Heelers. I wish I had half of their energy. There is literally always a ball bouncing through our house.
I’m a good time, or so they tell me! (Hey now, you know what I mean! Behave.)
Having fun with fashion. I like to dress cool and casual.
Listening to music during my alone time. I love to crank it up loud and dance to anything from Red Hot Chili Peppers to Queen or even something chill like Miles Davis.
The ocean is IT for me.
I adore staying at B&Bs. Lucky for me I live less than an hour away from the B&B capital of the country.
Always the animal lover, I particularly love B&Bs with alpaca farms. And on special occasions, Frankie and I get away to a nearby B&B with an alpaca farm here I get to pet them and feed them.
